Digital Innovation Zone EDIH 4.0 Conference

How Expertware uses AI in practice

Expertware participated on March 26, in Iași, at the Digital Innovation Zone EDIH 4.0 conference, where over 700 participants and 50 speakers from the tech ecosystem gathered around the same question: how can artificial intelligence be used in practice to support organizational growth?

Discussions took place within panels and at exhibition stands, where the Expertware team presented how AI is used in business contexts to improve operational efficiency, also addressing topics such as Zero Trust security, new European regulatory requirements and the use of IT infrastructure monitoring and management solutions (SIEM/SOC).

“We want to share our story — maybe it will motivate others to grow faster than we did.”
 — Tiberiu Baraboi, CEO & CTO Expertware

Tiberiu Baraboi, CEO & CTO of Expertware, present both in Panel 2, “AI-driven entrepreneurship: building the next generation of high-tech companies”, and at the stand, detailed how these technologies are used within the company. The panel discussion included Elena-Anca Paraschiv, Marius Ghenea, Mihnea Crăciun, Matei Dumitrescu and Vlad Gliga, moderated by Florin Cardașim.

DNSC (National Cybersecurity Directorate), our institutional partner in the SIEMBIOT project, was also present at the conference, both through the intervention of Valeria Popescu in Panel 1, “From policy to practice: how AI is transforming public services and the business environment”, and at the stand alongside our team, contributing to discussions on infrastructure security and the development of applied solutions.

How Expertware uses AI in practice: a leadership perspective

Tiberiu Baraboi emphasized that, for Expertware, AI adoption did not represent a shift in direction, but a natural evolution of how the company has been working with data in the Business Intelligence and Analytics space. The experience gained in data interpretation and process development enabled the integration of AI algorithms into day-to-day activities, initially as an experimental tool and later becoming part of the operational workflow.

He also highlighted that these technologies can be adopted gradually by other organizations to optimize processes and improve delivered services. At the same time, he pointed out that AI is currently non-deterministic, which complicates and delays its integration in companies. Without proper context and controlled data sources, models can generate inaccurate results, which requires careful use, especially in operational processes.

This process does not eliminate human involvement, but optimizes the analysis stage and allows teams to focus on final decision-making.

The examples presented reflect how Expertware uses AI in practice, both for internal process optimization and for developing solutions delivered to clients. In this context, the SIEMBIOT platform integrates AI capabilities for multi-source data correlation, anomaly detection and security alert prioritization. By automating detection and response processes, the platform reduces response time and increases visibility across IT and OT infrastructures.

Consulting and applied solutions at the stand

In parallel with the panel discussions, interactions at the Expertware stand focused on the practical application of these technologies in real business environments.

Discussions addressed how organizations can implement Zero Trust security strategies and align with new European regulations such as NIS2, CRA and DORA, by using IT infrastructure monitoring and management solutions (SIEM/SOC) in multi-cloud environments to increase visibility and operational control.

A central topic of these discussions was the SIEMBIOT platform, developed with European Union funding as an end-to-end cybersecurity solution. The platform integrates SIEM, SOAR and Cyber Threat Intelligence capabilities and is designed for 24/7 monitoring, early attack detection, correlation, reporting and support for NIS2 compliance.

The platform was demonstrated through practical use cases, highlighting rapid multi-source data correlation and incident prioritization based on operational impact.

It is essential in sectors such as energy, healthcare, banking and industry, where continuous monitoring of IT and OT infrastructures, real-time threat detection and correlation of alerts from multiple systems are critical for operational continuity. The platform enables automated incident response and supports reporting and compliance processes under NIS2, through centralized security event auditing.

As part of the event, the aSIEMmetry research project was also presented, co-funded by the European Union and developed in partnership with DNSC and Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The project uses entropy-based models for anomaly detection and efficient correlation of security events.

Expertware, main partner of the conference

Through its participation in Digital Innovation Zone conferences for the third consecutive year, Expertware reaffirms its role as a trusted partner and pan-European provider of IT services and cybersecurity solutions, supporting initiatives driven by local and national tech communities.

Discussions within panels and interactions with participants reinforced the idea that AI is no longer a future projection, but a core component already integrated — or in the process of being integrated — into organizational processes and solutions, with a direct impact on operational efficiency and risk management.
